Zen and Learning

“My experience is that the teachers we need most are the people we’re living with right now.” – Byron Katie

The reason I like this statement from Katie is others are a mirror in which we constantly see bits and pieces of ourselves. For me, seeing what I like in you is also what I like in me, and things I am critical of are often just images of who I am. Not always the same content, but certainly the same process and mindset. It is truly amazing to hold these thoughts in my conscious mind when with others. We often don’t see other people, we relate to our Ideas of other people. Those ideas are of our own construction and don’t reflect the ever changing and fragile person in front of us. I encourage doing the experiment and see if this is truthful for your experience.

Take care of you and others, it feels good!
